Multicultural faith communities; A good idea? A God idea? If so, how do we get there? With George Wieland (WEBINAR RECORDING)
3 recorded webinars. How do church leadership adapt to an increasingly diverse population in Aotearoa today?
Description
The population of Aotearoa New Zealand is increasingly ethnically, linguistically and culturally diverse. What does this mean for our faith communities, many of whom would now describe themselves as multicultural in composition? And how do leadership have to adapt to serve church and mission in those contexts?
Webinar 1: A biblical perspective – cultural diversity, the church and the Kingdom of God.
Webinar 2: Learning from practice – examples of churches and leaders on journeys towards fuller intercultural community.
Webinar 3: Addressing the challenges – talking honestly about issues encountered by churches in their multicultural life.
Presenter
Dr George Wieland is the Director of Mission Research and Formation in Te Kareti Iriiri o Carey (Carey Baptist College). Before coming to Aotearoa from Scotland George and his wife Jo served in cross-cultural mission in Brazil and pastored Baptist churches in the industrial North of England and inner-city Edinburgh. After living for a number of years in Tamaki Makaurau (during which Jo was for a time Pastor of Māngere Baptist Church) they now share life with other family as an intergenerational household in Pāpāmoa, from where George commutes regularly to work at Carey.
