How can the church respond to the climate crisis?

Explores how churches can respond to the climate crisis in a way that is biblically informed and mindful of the global situation. 4 webinars, starting 12th June, 2:30pm, 2025.

Description

Confronted with daily reports of a changing environment, a disproportionate impact on the world's poor, and concerning future scenarios, what is a reasonable way for us as church leaders to respond?  Some have ignored it, caricatured it or politicized it. Others have found themselves overwhelmed and filled with fear by it. This webinar series seeks a third way that is biblically informed, mindful of the global situation and aware of the significant ways in which our churches can be part of the answer.

This webinar series is presented by Steve Worsley and invited guests who are leading academics and practitioners in their fields of expertise.

Presenter

Steve Worsley has a Bachelor of Divinity from the Bible College of New Zealand (now Laidlaw) and has been an NZ Baptist Pastor for 26 years. He currently works half time at Auckland's Baptist Tabernacle and is half time as an Arotahi home-based missionary calling attention to racial and environment challenges through his original theatre work. Steve writes, “I was profoundly affected when I discovered the biblical mandate for Creation Care in my Bible College years.  I believe the church has everything to gain from rediscovering this aspect of our discipleship, at a time when environmental issues and their repercussions on the world's poor, are so pronounced”.
