Making Sense of the Old Testament

In this 1-Day workshop learn how to read, interpret and preach the Old Testament with Dr. Paul Jones. Tauranga and Christchurch options available.

Description

The Old Testament can feel like a difficult collection of ancient stories, laws, and prophecies. Yet it makes up 78% of our Bibles(!) and is vital for understanding God’s purposes throughout history — and for us today. This workshop will give you tools to read the Old Testament with greater confidence, enabling you to grasp the big-picture and apply helpful interpretive principles to difficult passages. Together we’ll discover how the Old Testament still speaks with clarity and relevance as Christian Scripture for the church in Aotearoa. Whether you’re new to the Bible or have been reading it for years, this course will help you make sense of the Old Testament.

Learning Outcomes
1. Gain confidence in reading (and preaching) the OT
2. Learn to apply interpretive principles (rules of reading well) to the OT
3. Grasp how the many parts of the OT fit together

Venue
This is an in-person only event being offered in two locations:
- Christchurch 6th June at Riccarton Baptist Church.
- Tauranga 25th July at Bethlehem Baptist

Morning tea provided, BYO lunch.
